Tchéka Tchéka has a new roof. Work will now begin on the bar and kitchen area with the aim of completing around July.
Greetings from Brasil. I hope that you all are all well and having a good Christmas and New Year.
Since returning to Brasil in October I’ve been planting trees, clearing land, building fences, and organising materials. Tchéka Tchéka is currently being reformed and the old structure dismantled. It’s a challenging project.
The new roof will be a bigger structure and made completely from natural materials (wood structure covered with 2,500 coconut palm fronds).
I won’t be visiting the UK for awhile (unless deported), so just in case you felt like running away to somewhere hot…..
Anytime of year is a good time to visit as the temperature (24-34 degrees), the sunrise (6am) and sunset (6pm) are constant all year round.
February – May there may be some rain. It’s usually only an hour or two daily and often at night. The rainwater lagoons in the National Park are full so it’s a good time to do a walk. In the rainy season and up until September there are hundreds of clear rainwater lagoons among the white dunes in which you can drink and swim to cool off.
The most popular (and busiest) months of the year to visit are June, July and August. This is because the rainy season is coming to an end so all the lagoons are full and everything is green. (This is when the guidebooks would recommend you visit)
The dry/windy season generally starts in July and continues until December or January. There is hardly any rain in this period and so the lagoons dry up after September. The weather is good for Kitesurfing because there is a strong sea breeze present in these months (15-25mph average). The evenings are cooler due to the sea breeze and there are no mozzies. If you’re not visiting specifically for the lagoons it’s still a good time to come at the end of the dry season (September to January).
There are some things to prepare for if you’re coming. The sun is very hot so bring sun protection (e.g. hat/cap, good sunglasses, suncream, light long-sleeved top).
There are no mozzies in the dry season, but there are times of year when they do appear for a few days so it’s best to be prepared with some repellent and light long-sleeved clothing for the evening.
If you need to escape for awhile get in touch and try and visit during a full moon : )
Daniel.
